University is an exciting part of your life, but sometimes the workload and the world of academia can become overwhelming. We caught up with our Academic Community of Excellence (ACE Team) to see how their role can support you throughout your studies.

The ACE Team is on hand to guide you to achieve academic excellence on your journey to graduation. Offering support and guidance in three different ways:

1. Personal tutorials
Students are able to book 30-minute virtual or face-to-face 1:1 tutorials with a member of the team. Whether you need some help understanding your assignment brief and what is expected of you, or guidance on how to structure different types of assignments, the team is here to help.

There are also a variety of other study skills that can be covered in your tutorial, including:

  • Paraphrasing
  • Maths
  • Computing skills
  • Navigating your Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)
  • Accessing online resources
  • Presentations

2. Online workshops
Students automatically have access to a range of online real-time workshops, across a variety of academic subjects. Delivered virtually, throughout the day, evenings and on Saturdays, all of these sessions are regularly repeated, so don’t worry if you are unable to attend a specific date. Here is a schedule of upcoming workshops.

Alongside this, the team regularly holds drop-in sessions, with opportunities to ask topic-specific questions and have discussions with the ACE Team as well as other students.

3. Self-access learning guides
There is a wide range of materials on the ACE page of your Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Based on common student questions and academic needs, these video guides and PowerPoint presentations are available to access on the go, at any time.

You are able to view a selection of how-to guides on useful topics, including how to submit your assignments online and navigating the different platforms you will use throughout your studies. This is also where you will find the workshop schedule, helpful links, and joining instructions to meet with the team. Access your VLE here.
