This week saw the return of the Enterprise Festival at the London branch campus. As popular as ever, this event gave students a fantastic opportunity to showcase businesses they had started from scratch as part of their studies with us.
The businesses on display were varied and each had unique ideas for being successful in highly competitive markets – and as always, the businesses who brought along edible treats seemed to draw the biggest crowds!
Speaking to students about their businesses gave a clear indication of the passion they have and the hard work they have put in to get their businesses off the ground.
There were many highlights from the day and all the businesses on show caught the eye for one reason or another – here are some of our highlights:
PHD Smart
PHD Smart is a unique business offering for private hire drivers in Birmingham. It provides a service where drivers can join a community and benefit from support on all aspects of being a private hire driver. Their pricing system gives drivers the chance to become a member for free and then upgrade their membership to access added benefits for a small amount each month.
E-Basket
Utilising state-of-the-art RFID technology, E-Basket is a retail solution that enables consumers to shop with ease. The team have applied RFID technology to the supermarket setting and have envisaged a future where customers are able to simply pick up an item and put it in their basket, and then leave without having to use a checkout to pay. It’s certainly an innovative solution and one with plenty of potential.
Verca Enterprise
The team at Verca Enterprise recognised the need to ensure children are eating fewer sugary snacks and instead offering fun and healthy alternative meals. The food on display looked fantastic and should be both fun and delicious for children everywhere – the sugar free gummy bears and gluten free spring rolls were a particular highlight.
We’d like to thank all students who took part to make the event a success, there were some fantastic ideas on show and we can’t wait to see the businesses that we see next time around.
