English and Maths requirements
All students applying for an Undergraduate, Pre-Masters or Postgraduate degree or the Graduate Certificate at Ulster University Branch Campuses are required to meet our standard English Language Requirements.
Students must also provide evidence that they satisfy the requirements for Maths (i.e. equivalent to a Grade C in GCSE). For students presenting qualifications from Nigeria, they must have at least a C6 in Maths as part of the WAEC/NECO (B3 in Maths for BSc Hons Accounting and Management).

A recognised Foundation/Access course OR A minimum of 2 Cambridge A Levels OR Year 1 (level 100) of a recognised Nigerian degree course OR an Ordinary National Diploma (OND/ND) OR A National Certificate of Education. You may still be considered with lower OND/ND grades or low Year 1 results. For advanced entry to an Undergraduate Degree Programme: At least 5 credit passes (4‐6) from SSCE (WAEC/NECO) AND a Higher National Diploma with at least a lower credit in a relevant subject. *Classification: Distinction, Upper/Lower Credit and pass, look for at least a lower credit. Grading System (WASSCE): A1 (excellent), B2‐3 (good), C4‐6 (credit), D7‐8 (pass), F9 (fail). Grading System (HND): Distinction, Upper/Lower Credit and pass

Instalment plans are available to applicants to help pay the balance of your fees, these are agreed on a case by case basis, defined by your qualifications and ability to pay your tuition fees.

UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) requires you to have a budget of at least £1,334 per month to study in London (in addition to your tuition fees).
We understand that you need to be able to budget properly during your studies in London. To help give you an idea of costs you can expect, here are the average living costs in London:
- Rent: £450-£550 per month
- Food: £120 per month
- Social life £140 per month
- Travel: £50 per month
- Phone: £50 per month
- Books and equipment: £25 per month

The London campus:
London is an extremely diverse city, reflected in the range of restaurants and places to eat. Halal food is widely available with many Halal restaurants located within easy reach of the campus; below are just a few to choose from:
For those students looking for places of worship, London caters to those of every faith. From BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Neasden and London Central Mosque by Regent’s Park to smaller venues closer to the campus, there is something for everyone.
- Oxford and Regent street are a short journey from the London campus, two of London’s biggest high streets, where you can find major brands such as Selfridges and Liberty’s of London.
- Carnaby Street and Soho are full of diverse stores and a huge range of places to eat catering to every type of cuisine you could wish for.
- Shaftesbury Avenue, home of the West End shows, is full of theatres with the latest productions, from long running shows like the Lion King to the latest dramas.
- London, of course, is known for its outstanding nightlife, with many clubs, bars and pubs. With many offering students discounted rates on entry and all out student nights! Some of the best clubs and bars in London include XOYO and the Callooh Cally.
- There is a huge amount of culture within a 20-minute journey from the campus, including St Paul’s Cathedral, the British Museum, the Charles Dickens Museum, and the Tate Modern.
- London is home to the beautiful Royal Parks. As well as offering great picnic and running spots, many of the parks hold regular events throughout the year including sporting events, music concerts whilst also being a natural haven for London’s wildlife.

The Birmingham Campus:
If you’re going to make Birmingham, your temporary home whilst studying you might want to take time to learn more about the city.
- The campus is just a short walk from the city centre and a must-see for all ages is the Thinktank Science Museum. Here you will have the opportunity to witness the 20 interactive exhibits that explain how Birmingham became world-renowned for its manufacturing along with its recognised natural science collections and modern-day products.
- The Bullring is located at the heart of the city centre and has over 160 stylish shops to explore including some of the world’s biggest brands such as Selfridges, Hugo Boss, Dior and Apple.
- With a grand atrium bigger than thirteen tennis courts, grand central train station hosts a modern array of shopping outlets and dining establishments. The huge range of restaurants include Yaki Nori, Yo! Sushi and other international cuisines ensuring that everyone’s tastes are met. The shopping centre has been built directly below New Street station making it even easier to meet up with friends and family for the day.
- Birmingham is home to the biggest Regional Library in Europe. Along with an extensive range of subject books and online resources the library also provides access to the British Film archive allowing you to watch over 2,500 free films, available through viewing stations. Just outside the library a small theatre provides a fantastic space to witness drama and music performances to poetry or storytelling readings. In addition, the library is home to other spectacular historical spaces including the Shakespeare Memorial Room. The original handmade display cupboards provide more than 44,000 books as well as magazines and DVDs which can all be located on the ninth floor. Additional features of the library include two outdoor garden terraces making it the perfect place to enjoy views of the city from one of the highest points in the city as well as providing an alternative study space.
- Just a stone’s throw from the city centre is Birmingham’s leading contemporary art gallery. The museum features temporary exhibitions from both local and international talented individuals, keeping art lovers most up to date with cutting-edge pieces. Iron also runs a youth programme for people aged between 16-21 allowing you to interact with others who also share a similar interest in art. The programme provides a great opportunity for you to create unique art pieces alongside professional artists enabling you to share skills and knowledge. Whether you intend to become a regular participant of one of the museum programs or if it’s a day out then why not attend for free and be charmed by the gallery’s beautiful neo-gothic building whilst seeing the world through someone else’s eyes.
Pre-Sessional courses are designed for students who require further English language support before you commence your academic course at Ulster University. They offer you the opportunity to improve your academic English, meet peers and prepare for life at Ulster University.
