Do you want to embark on a career in human resources?
Or are you in the HR world and want to progress into a more senior position?

This programme aims to provide you with a solid understanding of HRM while enhancing your personal capability, and equipping you with the specialised knowledge, skills and competencies needed to have a successful career in this field and join the next generation of HR leaders and managers.

The programme has been designed to benefit both those with prior HR experience and those new to the field, providing core foundational knowledge with specialised topics, making it accessible and relevant to those with diverse backgrounds. The modules on this course will explore topics such as resourcing and talent management, strategic human resource management (SHRM), research methods and problem-solving strategies, organisational development (OD), HR analytics, as well as equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

By the end of this programme, you will have a thorough understanding of HRM theories and practices, be equipped to tackle real-world HR challenges and propose strategic solutions and have the skills to effectively lead teams and manage organisational change. As well as this, you will be capable of conducting research and be able to utilise HR analytics for informed decision-making.

Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)

This course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), ensuring that our programme remains relevant to meet the evolving needs of the global workforce.

When joining the programme, the institution will register all the enrolled students with the CIPD. Registered students can then join the CIPD as a ‘Student Member’ by paying their own membership fees. On successful completion of this programme, the CIPD will upgrade the student membership to ‘Associate Membership’ status (AssocCIPD), thus recognising their experience and enhancing their employability in the HR profession. Please note, students are responsible for paying the Associate Membership Fees.

Extended route and Advanced Practice

The Extended MSc Human Resource Management with Advanced Practice integrates the Graduate Certificate programme with our standard MSc Human Resource Management programme, allowing you entry with qualifications equivalent to a standard degree (third class, pass or ordinary).  

With the Advanced Practice option, after completing your postgraduate modules, you will undertake a 15-week long internship, or applied consulting project, working with a real organisation on a live business problem. 

  • Build a solid foundation in the skills needed for postgraduate studies 
  • Progress straight into the MSc Human Rersource after passing the Graduate Certificate stage with a minimum overall average mark of 50%, and a pass mark of 40% in each Graduate Certificate module 
  • Gain experience of a workplace environment and ‘real world’ issues  
  • Get career-ready by putting your learning into practice  

Please note if you undertake an internship this may be paid or unpaid.

Teaching Methods

  • You will be taught using a wide variety of teaching methods across the modules including lectures, seminars and tutorials. Typically, you will have 12 hours of contact time per week.
  • In addition to your time in class, you will also be expected to engage in approximately 38 hours of self-study time per week.
  • You will have access to Blackboard, our online learning environment, where you can access module resources and reading lists that will assist your preparation for classes and self-study.
  • You’ll be taught by experienced lecturers and academics who will bring practical business-related experience into the classroom to enable students to understand how business works in the real world.

Assessment

Each module is assessed by coursework, including a variety of written work and presentations.
